Join us for a mesmerizing celebration of Black History Month at the World's Borough Bookshop in Jackson Heights! Our event promises to be a captivating experience including a book reading, play reading, live music and visual art. Immerse yourself in the rich culture and extraordinary achievements of the afro-diaspora.

Established professor and cultural consultant Lauraberth Lima will be hosting our event! They will lead us in a land acknowledgment as well as speak on the interconnection of all liberation movements globally. Featuring interdisciplinary artist Armoni Boone [Monihymn Studios]; Armoni will be reading an excerpt from their sci-fi web-novel “P.LS,” which will be accompanied by a showing of their original music and paintings. We will also hear from Fine Print, a collective of film makers and storytellers who will be reading an excerpt from their original play "Fire in the Grove." Written by Sunny Roberts, monologue performed by Rashad T Bailey. We will close out with Nyota, a phenomenal vocalist and advocate for women of color, in the space industry.

Come and engage with like-minded individuals passionate about social justice and multifaceted creativity. This is a unique opportunity to connect with inspiring people, exchange ideas, and build lasting connections!

Join us in honoring the vibrant tapestry of Afro-diasporic creativity, within liberation movements. Together we will pursue a deeper appreciation for the contributions made by the Black community, this February.
